Podmess #2

I talk about what party politics can be like inside the convention and go on to describe a conversation I had with a very conservative evangelical Christian woman at the convention. I talk about hippies and a couple of movies I saw recently and rehash my disappointment in the Seattle Aquarium...did I mention I talk about hippies?

Okay, so click here to listen to the best dumb podcast on the Interwebs.

It won't work. I try the link and it gives an error message.

If you're using Internet Explorer then try right-clicking on the link and select 'Save Target As'...it's a quirk but a reliable workaround.

Nevermind. Internet Exploder works to play the podmess. I usually use Firefox, however. So I'm a little annoyed. ;oP

I'm getting a little comment happy over here. Anyway, good podcast. Speaking of hippies have you ever read Mark Vonnegut's book "The Eden Express"? It's pretty interesting. (Aside: his father is Kurt Vonnegut the sci-fi author.) I read it as research on schizophrenia for a character in one of my own books. I learned a lot about hippies from it, however. Stuff my parents never told me -- they don't talk about the '60s and '70s. I gained a little more respect for hippies, and a little less respect in some ways. Some parts of history are never spoken of among polite company. Anyway, if you really want an inside look at the whole hippy, going off into the country to build messes that were called houses and grow all their own food, I'd recommend you read that book. It's pretty weird sometimes because the guy was going crazy. It's very stream of consciousness and a little difficult to read straight through (I had to take a lot of breaks), but it's short.
