My reading level

I was recently given a book that I must recommend to all of you.

It is a children's book entitled: An Island Called Liberty by Joseph Specht.

While I joked earlier about having never read Ayn Rand, I do find this book on par with other great libertarian primers by Charles Murray or David Boaz. There is nothing like a children's book to expose how simple a concept can be.

The book is summarized by this blurb on the back cover:

Inside is the story of a right friendly land, Where people were quick to lend a free hand. With the best of intentions they passed many laws, To fix what they felt were quite fixable flaws. But the fixes, they found, were too much in the end, For the bureaus and programs and taxes they penned.

Once the lessons were learned, here's what they knew:

The contentment of many can't come from the few.

This book can and should be purchased by clicking here.

Sounds like more Libertarian propaganda. In a children's book, no less. Give it a rest. I forsee little kids running to Dad in tears, "Daddy, Daddy, I don't want to hand over my paycheck to the government so that they can oppress me!"

You can't run a country on no taxes. Bush tries, but debt is no better than taxes.

If you damn Libertarians want a nation without taxes, then fine. Come and build a new Seattle viaduct with no money, your bare hands and a shovel, and maybe I'll support you.

Here's my solution to two major problems at once; too few trained soldiers to occupy Iraq and Libertarian children's books: send the Libertarians to Iraq. They are already armed and prone to shoot at others while quoting the second amendment.

Now Grump, you're mixing me up with Neo-Cons again.

By the way...federal tax receipts were announced this week as being at record levels...yet the deficits persist...even a Democrat can figure out what the problem is there...but I digress..

Paychecks should not be handed over to anyone...if your paycheck or the fruit of your labor belongs to someone else then so do you. I believe in self-ownership.

I'd be happy to pay a tax to build a new Viaduct...but after hearing from Dems like Maria Cantvotewell bragging about how they brought home about 1 dollar in federal money for every dollar we paid in the first place, I'll remain cynical.

In other words, we already had the money but had to make sure we employed a bloated government to dole the dollars back to us like children on allowance.

Unlike Neo-cons, Libertarians don't believe in initiating force against others for our own gain so you'll have to sign up Dino Rossi for your Iraq campaign...you'll likely find Libertarians standing beside you in our hatred for the war.

You Dems haven't had a new idea since the Roosevelt's Raw Deal. Get a new playbook.
