Disarming New Orleans Citizens

Apparently to restore order no one will be allowed to carry a weapon in New Orleans...unless you are a security guard hired to protect life and property. In other words if you're wealthy enough to hire someone to carry a gun for you then you can have as much protection as you can afford. If you're poor then I'm afraid you'll have to depend on the police...police who have already conceded that protecting life and property is a secondary responsibility in the face of the overall relief effort.

Amen to that. The thing is during some of those confiscations the deputies themselves were actually breaking the law. Sometimes the local fuzz seems to forget that they are not the last word on the law. There's a little thing called the Constitution idiots! Specifically the 2nd amendment. Which says the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. There are no ifs and or buts in that. What your local law and state constitution say don't mean squat. Actually I think a case could have been made for the 2 guys on the boat crossing Lake Ponchatrain ,that had their hunting rifles confiscated, that had they opened fire on the deputies it could have been argued that they were defending they're property and lives as the deputies order was NOT a lawful order.
